How To Customise Jewellery With Baroque
Customising jewellery is the perfect way to add that sentimental touch, make a design your own, or incorporate something personal like a birthstone or special date. Whether you’re designing a bespoke commission, or want to add a special touch to something you’ve fallen in love with in-store, incorporating these custom details creates a beautiful back-story and a piece of jewellery that is truly one of a kind.

Why Choose Custom Jewellery?
We may be biased, but there is something truly magical about designing your own jewellery. At Baroque we’re bursting with ideas, and our job is to help bring your design to life. A bespoke piece is perfect if you have a unique idea in mind, or if you’re struggling to find exactly what you’re looking for. Our team will carefully walk you through the bespoke process, making sure to incorporate each important detail to form your unique Baroque creation. This might mean sourcing a rare or unique stone, adding an engraving or motif that has a special meaning, or even incorporating your own sentimental jewellery repurposing the stones, metal, or a mixture of both. There are endless possibilities when it comes to the Bespoke Jewellery Process, the sky really is the limit! Not to mention our commission appointments are free, so there is no reason not to pop in and chat with our friendly team.

How to Personalise Jewellery
There are many ways to customise every design at Baroque, whether you go for a full bespoke commission or are just looking to add a little personal touch.
Here are some of our favourite ways to customise…
Engraving
Dates, initials, nicknames, or family crests… we have even laser-engraved Harry Potter symbols!
Gemstone choices
If you’ve seen a design you love but are looking for a specific stone, be it a teal sapphire or salt and pepper diamond, this is where the bespoke process comes in. We search high and low to find our customers rare and unique stones, nothing is too difficult for our commission team – no stone is left unturned!
Added Extras
Small diamonds and gemstones can be added to most designs as a wonderful way to incorporate a birthstone or a precious stone that has a special meaning, or symbolises something like love or luck! Our favourite is a ‘Hidden Gem’ which is a small diamond or gemstone of your choosing, set on the inside of a ring for a custom touch that only you and the wearer will know about.
Metal finishes
This is the most simple Bespoke Jewellery Process that can be done in a matter of minutes but makes a huge difference to a design. A matte finish instantly gives a contemporary and organic feel while a high shine polish adds that timeless sparkle.

Remodelling & Repurposing: A Sustainable Option
While the Baroque workshop is known for its traditional craftsmanship, we also specialise in repurposing, remodelling, and heirloom commission. This means we can transform pre-loved jewellery into something shiny and new.
Repurposing and remodeling: As time passes, styles can change. This is where the baroque bespoke service comes in, breathing new life into those less-worn pieces and giving them a makeover – no more hiding away in a jewellery box!
We can upcycle precious metals and create new designs, or unset your pre-loved stones and incorporate them into something new. You could have one lonely earring waiting to be transformed into a beautiful ring, or talk to us about melting down and reforming those pieces that have definitely seen better days, maybe into one of our ethereal molten rings.
Heirloom: This process usually involves working with inherited or sentimental jewellery. We can reuse the precious materials in your special pieces, repurposing diamonds and other gemstones, or melting down and reforming metals. It’s a real honour for us to work with jewellery that holds the memory of someone passed and transform it into something to be loved for another generation.

How To Personalise Jewellery: The Process
The Bespoke Jewellery Process is slightly different depending on the item but usually has around four steps…
1: Bespoke commission consultation
This free consultation is held either in-store or via Zoom and is a chance for you to ask all of your questions about how to customise jewellery and discuss all things design. We’ll cover all sorts of things, like ‘what metal colour are you thinking of?’ or ‘what colour gemstone do you have in mind?’, which helps us to paint a picture of the piece we’ll be creating for you. Once we have gathered all the information we need, we’ll get to work on calculating quotes and thinking up design options.
2: Design options
This is when our team gets to work doing what we do best. We start looking into designs past and present that might be helpful for you to see – we want to give you as many visuals as possible, so that you feel confident every step of the way. We look into diamonds and gemstones that suit the design and work out the important stuff like cost and timeframe. In terms of budget, we can either start with quoting to the exact specifications agreed in your consultation, or if you have a preferred price point in mind, we can give you all the design options that will work within budget.
3: Sourcing stones and finalising designs
This is maybe our favourite part of the process, there is nothing more exciting than showing customers all the magical stones we have sourced for them. It’s not everyday someone has laid out a spread of sapphires or diamonds for you!
Once you have chosen your perfect stone, we usually find that everything else falls into place. We can do some mock-ups in store, or if you need a little more to help you visualise, we can offer things like drawings and CAD designs.
4: Now this might seem a little bit of a jump but once the design is finalised with the customer, the team gets straight to work. We’ll let you know when your commission is due to be completed at the point of ordering, so you’ll have to sit tight for 8-10 weeks dreaming of your beautiful piece! As soon as it’s all finished and ready to collect, we’ll give you a call to book you in for a collection appointment. However, we are only ever an email away and also offer a bespoke process package if you would like to see more of the behind the scenes workshop process.
